CRACKING THE FORMULA
Founded in February 2017, The Ultimate Formula was a breakaway division geared to delivering top quality wheel-to-wheel racing every night for PS4 users. Given founders history in previous leagues, they already had the templates in place, however their aim was to take these ideas and move them onto the next level.
The five original members, Cory Meredith, Christiaan Schoen, Shay Vaughan, Paul Oliver and Simon Moore worked tirelessly to lay the foundations of the league. Each member brought their own ideas to the table and together helped mould rules still seen in the Formula today.
Within the first week of the Formula going live, the team had managed to obtain over 20 drivers. A fantastic feat given they had never managed a league between them before. The drivers recruited would adhere to the set rules with the promise of having their opinions heard and partaking in some thrilling racing.
The progression was starting to take pace. Drivers from all over the World would compete in the leagues racing. Many of them conquering the top 100 times set in Time Trial. This helped enhance the speed and determination of existing members whilst also resulting in a gripping climax to each World Championship.
As the next couple of months passed, it was clear that racing every night had put a strain on the work and family commitments for both the TUF founders and its drivers. They needed to change it up.
In late May 2017, Meredith and Schoen recruited new admins Chris Flynn and Brandon Caratozzolo. Together they helped change the leagues philosophy altogether. Format 2 was born.
Format 2's concept was made up of just three races a week. Monday's and Thursday's would home host of the 50% Full / Strict World Championship. Wednesday nights were set to be the flagship. A 100% Full / Strict World Championship with the added twist of full throttle commentary, broadcast live to YouTube from their very own TUFtvcrew.
As F12016 nears the chequered flag, an air of optimism resonates around TUF as they look to expand into multiple divisions. The ever-growing roster has become increasingly competitive and as F12017 draws nearer, it will be interesting to see who will become, The Ultimate World Champion.
